covers for Issue #4 involve Rafiki battling the hyena trio, so maybe he'll stage a fake rescue in order to cover his tracks and gain control over the Pride Lands with minimal opposition towards him.Ĥ) Kabeer and Krass: They wind up flying away at the start of Issue 3 during Scar's confrontation to the Queen. So I'm so hoping the final issue clears that up: Maybe along with Zazu, Scar will pull the strings and cause a chain of events that will make it impossible for Rafiki to sus Scar out: One of the alt. There is a clear plot-hole here: A) why would Scar openly admit his plans to someone without knowing for sure if they'd be on his side, and B) why didn't Rafiki inform Mufasa that Scar had ulterior motives? This takes place years before his death so Rafiki has all the time in the world to warn the royal family. In Issue #1, Scar admits to Rafiki that he believes he should be King, and when Rafiki does not immediately and outwardly deny that notion, Scar decides to invite Rafiki in on the plan to push Mufasa off the throne. Much like Simba in future events of the film, Zazu will be an unwitting pawn in Scar's destructive conquest for power:ģ) Rafiki: This is something I'm holding out for because I've noticed this since the day the series started. Because that's what Scar's true power is, his brains. Trick him into revealing info that he needs in order to help the hyenas hunt. No, what I think will happen is that Scar will manipulate Zazu. It causes so many holes in the story more than it fixes. I really hope they don't go with the stupid "Zazu is a traitor working for Scar" theory if that's what they're setting up. And I guess because of thematics, the hyenas will wind up eating Zuhour, but either way, I don't see her making it out of this story alive (and to that I say good riddance! Viva la Revolution!)Ģ) Zazu: So by this point in the story, Scar has attempted to kill a child because he felt bored, encouraged the lionesses to excessively hunt, is doing the same to the hyenas. I can imagine Scar buttering up the hyenas with the food he supplies and using that to instigate a rebellion in which Zuhour is overthrown and/or killed, which not only shows the true threat that Scar and his hyenas will pose to the Pride Lands, but serves as dark foreshadowing for Scar's death later on. It's pretty evident that she's going to die, and it's even more evident that Scar and/or the hyenas will be the ones to do her in. So here are my predictions/hopes for next month's finale.ġ) The Hyena Queen: Obviously something will happen to the Hyena Queen before the end of the series because she is nowhere to be found in the movie during the takeover, and Shenzi is the one who appears to be leading the hyenas, not Zuhour (whether or not they'll retroactively establish her as the "queen" or abolish the "hyena monarchy" is up for interpretation). Now, we have one last issue before the series is over, meaning that there are quite some loose ends to tie up, especially in regards to movie canon. Overall a very dark yet promising set-up. So now we've finally seen Queen Zuhour of the Hyenas, and we've gotten a glimpse into her implied tyranny that Issue #3 set up for us: That every so often, she instigates a ritual in which hyenas are sacrificed to the clan to be cannibalized on (gruesome, ain't it?): This changes when Shenzi defies being eaten herself and when Scar "borrows" Shenzi, Ed, and Banzai to overhunt in the Pride Lands and win Zuhour's loyalty, and they plan on using Zazu in some way, shape, or form to accomplish this.
